		<description>Nick

Thank you very much for your comment.

I think the whole subject of China&#039;s imperial mind set is a fascinating one. As you say outside of my scope but China was an empire long before Russia or America and may well be one long after them. It seems to me that the place of corporations in Chinese political life is still developing and it is not at all clear that they will eventually follow anything like the American model, but one thing is sure: they will be very powerful players in the global economy.

		<description>Dear Brian

You make very interesting points about the corporate structures of both Russia and America and how, in their different ways, they use and are used by their governments.

I accept it is not necessarily part of your brief for this book, but another embryonic empire is looming on the horizon which will affect them both - China. I suspect it will be a different sort of empire - its global reach fueled by finance and markets - but an empire nevertheless.

Both Russia and America will already be planning how to meet/accomodate this challenge and decisions they make will affect both radically. Why does &#039;1984&#039; suddenly seem so relevant?

Look forward to reading your book.
