Seems to me that Tony Ross may have identified a spot of talent that he felt might be just a little bit threatening.
If you ask for constructive criticism and in return receive only sarcastic comments then it is time to question why.
Apart from anything else, what is wrong with a drawing having a French influence? And in relation to large heads, has he never seen Babar the Elephant…. oh, sorry… of course Babar was French !!
Take no notice Caroline and continue with the style that you are comfortable with.

All feedback is interesting, But I think there is a point in ones life when you have to do what you believe in and not listen to too many opinions… or else one can became flaky and confused… Of course a little criticism can be useful, but then one has to draw the line…. I think showing these experienced illustrators your work was a really courageous thing to do, and well done.. .. I think you have done so well in such a short time…. Hope to see more of your work in the future..
