Love it. The national anthem says "never be slaves". There is NO Special Relationship. It is just the way imperialist Tories avoid taking on Europe and leading it. Let us get out of the bomb shelters and rebuild the economy after sixty years of failure. We have an example back in the early nineteenth century. Otherwise there will be an even bigger disaster with seventy million mouths to feed. I cannot say I am hopeful.

If anything there's a big overlap between British Euroscepticism and groups like the Heritage Foundation, a relationship which is formalised in the latter's Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom.

I think this captures the reasoning:

"On both sides of the Atlantic, the EU treaty is bad news. It poses a massive threat to the future of the Anglo-American Special Relationship, as well as the broader transatlantic alliance. It will further empower Europe's Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP), both major threats to the future of NATO. The treaty will seriously impair the ability of America's allies in Europe to stand alongside the United States where and when they choose to do so."

The Margaret Thatcher Center was also where Declan Ganley delivered a triumphal address after Ireland voted no to the Lisbon Treaty.
